Why we built Bill
Bill began with our own frustration with existing legal billing software.
Ricky used one of the established systems in his practice, but still sent himself WhatsApp voice notes to remember work he needed to bill when he was away from his desk.
We wanted to help solve this by building billing software that fitted the way lawyers actually work, so we built an assistant you can chat to on WhatsApp.
Billing was the starting point. We then built the accounting system behind it and added bookkeeping and tax to the service. We believe running a legal practice in South Africa and keeping it compliant should be easier, especially for smaller practices without a finance team.

Your records are stored in South Africa, in Google Cloud's Johannesburg region. TAC Security assessed Bill for Google's CASA Tier 2 requirement, and external attorneys carried out a POPIA impact assessment. The Trust Centre sets out the detail, with our privacy policy, terms and other policies.
