Use Bill from Claude or ChatGPT
Connect your AI assistant to Bill and ask about your practice in your own words, such as who owes you money or how this month’s fees compare with last month’s. The connection is read only: your assistant can look things up in Bill but can’t change anything.

Claude
How to add a custom connector in Claude- When Claude asks how to sign in, keep ‘Use Claude’s published identity’. The other options don’t work with Bill.
- Sign in to Bill when asked.
- Switch Bill on in each chat where you want to use it.
A free Claude account can add one custom connector. On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner adds the connector first.
ChatGPT
How to add a custom MCP server in ChatGPT- Choose OAuth for sign-in.
- Sign in to Bill when asked.
- Choose Bill in each chat where you want to use it.
A free ChatGPT account can’t add custom MCP servers. On a Business or Enterprise plan, a workspace admin has to allow them first.
Before you connect
Once your assistant reads information from Bill, that information is held by the assistant’s provider under your agreement with them, not ours. That includes your clients’ details. The provider decides where it’s processed, how long it’s kept and whether it’s used to train their models.
Bill never sends an assistant a full bank account number, only the last four digits. Text that you or your bank wrote, such as a statement line’s description or a note, is sent as written.
- Use a business plan. Claude Team or Enterprise, and ChatGPT Business or Enterprise, don’t use your chats for training by default.
- On a personal plan, switch training off first. On Claude Free, Pro and Max, and ChatGPT Plus and Pro, the provider trains its models on your chats unless you switch this off. In Claude it’s Settings, Privacy, “Help improve Claude”. In ChatGPT it’s Settings, Data controls, “Improve the model for everyone”.
- Check that sharing is allowed. You’re responsible for deciding whether sharing is lawful under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and consistent with client confidentiality and legal professional privilege. You also need your firm’s permission. See clause 13.7 of our Terms of Service.
Disconnect an assistant
In Bill, open Settings, then Data & Privacy. Connected apps lists every assistant you’ve connected, and you can disconnect any of them there. A disconnected assistant loses access straight away.
